Goliath X

Enter the pilot seat of a colossal Goliath and explore an endless and mystical cosmos in Goliath X, a Science Fantasy Mecha Tabletop RPG. The setting of Goliath X is filled with myriad worlds, housing mythical pantheons, technocratic empires, and threats both great and terrible. Play as an itinerant wizard, a hardened veteran, a conduit for an ancient monstrosity, or whatever else you can dream up. Clash with titanic powers using your massive Goliath, and forge a dynamic story along with a few friends.

Throughout play you can explore countless worlds and the civilizations that call them home. Magic and technology abound across the cosmos and vary greatly from world to world. Putting the peace and stability of these worlds in jeopardy are great Threats that will need to be dealt with, in scenes of guile, planning, comradery, and over-the-top action. 

Play in Goliath X follows a traditional ttrpg structure with one player taking on the role of GM and portraying the setting and characters within, and the other players each creating and embodying a pilot with a Goliath. The game is narrative focused, with each roll of the dice advancing the scenario while adding interesting wrinkles and problems to play. 

Major features of Goliath X include:

• Open-ended pilot creation. Start with a character concept, and flesh them out with Traits that can offer circumstantial bonuses and allow for great freedom of expression. Describe your character's service weapon, and gain a bonus when attempting to intimidate a squirrelly captive or take down a guard chasing you through the streets. Describe a noble upbringing, and gain a bonus gleaning clues from court drama or find yourself in high standing among those that place a great premium on titles. 

• Goliath types and Assets. Build a Goliath using one of three archetypes: The technologically advanced Tactical Frame, the arcane and mystical Regalia, or the primal and organic Behemoth. Gear them up with Assets, which fall into broad categories but allow you to create anything from a positron cannon, to a gravity-defying spell, to layers of armored chitin. 

• Dynamic resolution mechanic. You will always roll 4 dice, though the combination of which depends on your stats.  D4s, D6s, D8s, and D10s are all used to represent levels of mastery and specialization. Reach the target number with only 2 dice and enjoy success, but the necessity of 3 or 4 will cause the consequences of that success to become more and more dire. 

• Heart and Overdrive. Gain heart through exploration of your character's desires and troubles, and use it to improve rolls that are important to you and your pilot. When your back is against the wall and the consequences of failure are too great, Overdrive will allow your Goliath to perform mythic feats, but at a cost. 

• A Cosmos of Threats. Grapple with World Threats wherever you go, aiding people with their problems or just trying to stay in one piece. The greatest forces you will face, however, will be Campaign Threats. Each player will create a Campaign Threat that their pilot has some history with: organizations, celestial monsters, warlords, and much more that will reach wide across the cosmos to advance their own schemes. 

• Random Generation.  Create bespoke content or make use of random generation tables to help create worlds, civilizations, threats, NPCs, and enemies. 

Goliath X is fully playable from the documents here, including character creation, rules for play, random generation, and character sheets. The game is continuing to grow, with some next steps including more professional layout and art.
